What is Vision Drive Technology?
Vision Drive is an Ohio state-approved driving school based in Columbus. We help teens and adults complete the full Class D licensing process — the 24-hour online drivers education course, behind-the-wheel training, and refresher lessons. We also offer car rental for the BMV road test.
Where are you located?
Our office is at 875 N. High Street, Suite 300, Office 424, Columbus, OH 43215. Our instructors meet students at the office unless you qualify for pickup and drop-off (see the Pickup section below).
What are your office hours?
Office hours are:
How do I contact you?
You can reach us in a few ways:
Do you speak Mandarin or other languages?
Yes — Mandarin-speaking support is available. Please let us know your language preference when you contact us and we will match you with the right team member or instructor when possible.
Can I refer a friend or family member?
Absolutely — most of our students come from word of mouth. Have them mention your name when they enroll and you will receive a $35 credit for every successful referral.
Are you hiring driving instructors?
We are currently hiring driving instructors. If you are interested, send your resume to careers@visiondrivetech.com.
What courses do you offer?
We offer three main programs:
Do you teach adult beginners?
Yes. We work with first-time drivers of all ages — including adults who have never driven before. Our instructors tailor the lesson plan to your starting skill level.
Do you offer online classes?
Yes. The 24-hour online drivers education course is state-approved and self-paced, offered through our partnership with 2Cool Traffic School at a discounted rate. Once you enroll with us, we will email you the link to start. You can complete it from home on a computer or tablet. You can study up to 4 hours per day.
Do you teach motorcycle riding?
No, we do not offer motorcycle training.
Do you teach manual (stick-shift) transmission?
No. We only train on automatic-transmission vehicles at this time.
Do you handle TPR or out-of-state license transfers?
No — Vision Drive is a driving school, so we do not provide TPR services or process out-of-state license conversions (for example, a Florida ID to an Ohio ID). Those services are handled directly by the Ohio BMV. The BMV info line is (844) 644-6268.
What are the requirements for enrolling?
For our Class D Driver BTW Training, you must be at least 15 years and 6 months old with a valid temporary instruction permit. For Foreign License Conversion, you must have a valid foreign driver's license and be legally residing in Ohio.
How much do your courses cost?
All pricing is listed on visiondrivetech.com in the programs section.
Do you have a student or school discount?
Our standard promotion discount applies to all students and is the best rate we currently offer. We do not have additional school-specific discounts on top of that.
What is your rate for extra lessons?
If you complete a package and want additional practice, additional lessons are typically billed in 4-hour blocks at the same per-hour rate as the package you purchased. Contact us with the number of extra hours you would like and we will quote you the exact price.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We can also take bank transfers, PayPal, and Apple Pay.
Can I pay in installments instead of all at once?
Yes. We support installment payments through Klarna and Afterpay directly on the checkout page. They typically split the total into 4 interest-free payments, so you do not have to pay everything up front.
Can I pay in person at the office?
We currently only accept payment through our website at visiondrivetech.com. Online payment is the fastest way to lock in your slots and is the only method we support at this time.
How do I sign up?
Enrollment is 100% online and takes only a few minutes:
Do I have to come into the office to enroll?
No. Almost all of our students enroll online. The first time you will need to come to our office (or be picked up by your instructor) is your first behind-the-wheel session.
How soon can I start?
BTW availability changes week by week. Slots fill quickly — at peak times the earliest opening can be 3–4 weeks out. The fastest way to lock in early slots is to enroll first; once you are in our system you can see and book live availability. Note that you must complete the 24-hour online drivers education course before you can schedule your in-person 8-hour BTW training.
What times of day are lessons available?
Our earliest lesson starts at 8:30 AM and our latest start time is generally before 6:00 PM (we do not run lessons after dark for safety), subject to instructor availability.
Do you offer night classes or late evening lessons?
We can run early-evening lessons (typically up to a 5:00–7:00 PM or 5:30–7:30 PM start), but we do not schedule lessons after dark because students need full daylight to practice safely.
How are the 8 hours of training split up?
The 8-hour BTW course is delivered as 4 sessions × 2 hours each, scheduled across multiple days. The 4-hour Refresher is 2 sessions × 2 hours. Only one session per day is allowed. We coordinate the dates with you when we set up your account.
How long does the whole licensing process take?
Most students finish in about 3 to 5 weeks from enrollment, depending on how quickly they complete the 24-hour online course and how soon BTW slots are available. Booking early and finishing the online course quickly is the biggest factor.
Do I get the same instructor every lesson?
We do our best to keep you with the same instructor for continuity, but occasionally a different instructor may cover a session due to scheduling. All our instructors are state-certified and teach the same Ohio curriculum.
Do you pick up students from home?
Yes — free pickup and drop-off is included if your address is within 5 miles of the following location: 2108 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43210. We use this address to calculate the service zone because it covers a wider area and serves more of our students. The instructor meets you at your address, drives to the practice route with you, and drops you back off afterward.
What if I live outside the 5-mile pickup zone?
No problem — you are welcome to meet your instructor at our office. Many of our students who live outside the pickup area come (or are dropped off by a parent) to the office, and the lesson starts from there.
Can the instructor pick me up from school?
Yes, as long as the pickup location is within 5 miles of the following location: 2108 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43210. Let us know the address when you enroll, and you can also update it later from your student account.
What if I need to reschedule a lesson?
If you need to reschedule more than 24 hours before your lesson, you can do it yourself directly in the system. If it is within 24 hours, text or call us — we can usually move you to another open slot, but we may ask for a $50 rescheduling fee.
Can I update my pickup address after enrollment?
Yes. Log into your student account on visiondrivetech.com/booking.html and update your pickup/drop-off address. If you have trouble, text us and we will update it on our end.
What is the full Ohio Class D process if I am under 21?
There are five steps in the Ohio process for new drivers under 21:
Do I need a permit before I start lessons?
Yes. By Ohio law you must have your temporary instruction permit (TIPIC) before you can take behind-the-wheel lessons. If you do not have your permit yet, the 24-hour online course will help you prepare — many students take their permit test right after finishing it.
Do I have to finish the online course before in-car lessons?
Yes. The 24-hour online course must be completed (and certificate received) before you can begin the 8-hour behind-the-wheel training. The online course is self-paced so most students finish it in 1–3 weeks.
Can I take the online course from home?
Yes — the entire 24-hour course is online and self-paced. You can take it from home on a computer, tablet, or phone. There is no in-person classroom requirement.
What do you cover during the 8-hour BTW course?
Sessions are tailored to your skill level, but typically cover:
Will I practice on the highway?
Yes — but only when approved by your instructor. Once you are comfortable with city streets, your instructor will introduce highway driving.
Will you teach parking and maneuverability?
Yes. Parking and the maneuverability "cone" test are built into the curriculum, and we make sure you practice them before the BMV road test.
Do you have patient instructors for older or first-time students?
Absolutely. A large portion of our students are younger beginners or older drivers returning after a long time. If you have specific concerns (anxiety, vision, language, etc.), tell us when you enroll and we will match you with the right instructor.
Can I use your car for the BMV road test?
Yes. BMV road-test car rental is $131 for 2 hours and includes a warm-up drive plus the exam itself. The car is fully insured, equipped with the required dual-control brake, and meets all BMV inspection requirements.
Do you offer practice specifically for the BMV cone test?
Yes. We can dedicate part of your behind-the-wheel time, or schedule extra hours, focused on the maneuverability portion of the test. The 4-hour Refresher is a popular choice for students who already have driving experience and just need cone-test practice.
How does road test day work?
On test day we pick you up (if you are within the service zone) or meet you at our office. Your instructor warms you up with a short practice drive on routes similar to the test route, then you take the exam in our car with the BMV examiner.
